About the edition:
Award-winning multimedia artist Sarp Kerem Yavuz explores a more playful side of his Turkish roots by creating the first build-it-yourself backgammon set out of real LEGO bricks. A continuation of the artist’s LEGO Iznik Tile series, in which he creates larger than life iterations of traditional patterns from the Ottoman Empire, Tavla (Red) is Yavuz’s first piece that encourages the audience to interact with the artwork. Comprised of nearly 2000 individual pieces, Tavla (Red) comes disassembled, with a dedicated QR code that leads to the building instructions. Once built, the set can be used to play backgammon or checkers, and it is sturdy enough to take with you on your travels.
