About the project:
Last September, JR unveiled the first Act of his project Retour à la caverne in the Palace de l'Opéra in Paris. During the renovation work on the Palais Garnier, JR covered the scaffolding on the facade, transforming it into the entrance of a cave - a reference to Plato's allegory.

In November, the cave grew and the viewers found themselves inside the cavern. The visual became a stage curtain designed with the participation of hundreds of people who left their hand print during the Mano Habilis workshop at 19M. The installation came to life on November 12th, when CHIROPTERA, a project by JR, Damien Jalet, and Thomas Bangalter, took place with 153 dancers performing on the scaffolding for an audience of more than twenty-five thousand spectators.

To celebrate this monumental project, JR is releasing two new lithographs, limited to 180 copies each, depicting two distinct moments from Act I. From the soft hues of dawn to the tranquil dusk, viewers are invited to rediscover the enchantment within the Opera cave.
