About the book:
Pelle Cass’s photo compositions are saturated with figures, often to the point of chaos. With Crowded Fields, which he began in 2018, he takes the vast subject of sport and plays by his own experimental rules. Layering multiple frames rather than altering the images, Cass pushes the photographic medium to its kinetic limit while reconstructing time as we know it.
Pelle Cass is a photographer from Brookline, Massachusetts who has developed his own style of “still time-lapse” with a focus on sporting events. His work is in the collections of the Fogg Art Museum, the Addison Gallery of American Art, the Polaroid Collection and the DeCordova Museum, among others. Cass’s photos appear in various books including Photoviz by Nicholas Felton and The Art of Illusion by Florian Heine; and magazines such as Beaux Arts, McSweeney’s, FOAM, The Atlantic, and GQ.
