This is the first of three editions developed over years of collaboration between Claire Tabouret and the Adachi Institute of Woodcut Prints. The series employs traditional Japanese woodblock printing techniques, which originated in the Edo period and gave rise to the expressive art form known as ukiyo-e. Since the 2010s, Adachi has been working with contemporary artists and master Japanese artisans to produce what they call “contemporary ukiyo-e.” It is printed on translucently thin yet durable washi paper, delicate and beautiful.
